Obituary
Waukee – The death of Mr. Joseph M. Weil, brother of the late Father Weil of Richmond, IA., took place at his home two miles east of Waukee, on Nov. 1st, All Saints ’ Day. Mr. Weil was a native of Churchville, IA.; he settled at Waukee about twenty five years ago, where he purchased a large farm of Iowa’s best agricultural land. He was a model farmer, and a man of great industry. For many years he was president of the Farmers’ Elevator company and vice president of the Waukee Savings bank. He was a man of noble character, kind and charitable disposition, he was always willing to take a part in every enterprise started for the benefit of the community. The high esteem in which he was held was amply testified by the large concourse which attended his funeral on last Saturday morning. The remains were taken from his home to the church where requiem mass was celebrated by the pastor, Ref. F. P. Larkin, who also delivered the sermon in which he paid a high tribute to the memory of the deceased. Mr. Weil was elected member of the church committee about two months ago and proposed the erection of a new church at Waukee towards which he promised a liberal donation. As he lived an exemplary and edifying life so he died a holy death, and in the last days of his illness was frequently visited by his pastor. He is survived by his wife and ten children, six sons and four daughters, all residents of Waukee, his mother and three brothers of Churchville and two brothers at St. Louis. Interment was in the family lot at Dallas Center. His six sons acted as pall bearers. Farther Larkin officiated at the grave.
