At the age of 22 in 1890 she came to America.

OBITUARY-Mrs Oscar E Johnson died at her home in Canova, SD Sunday evening after a lingering illness.
Clara Charlotta Olson was born Aug 15, 1868 in Stockholm Lane, Sweden. At the age of 22 in 1890 she came to America alone, arriving at Salem where she remained for a week. She then came to Canova, SD and obtained employment here and met her future husband here.
She was united in marriage to OE Johnson on Dec 9, 1893 and resided on a farm north east of Canova. Later they purchased a farm and lived on it for twenty-five years. Fifteen years ago they moved to Canova, which has remained their home.
Some time ago she was stricken with sickness and passed peacefully away at her home Sunday evening Oct 4, 1936 at the age of 68 years, one month 19 days.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Swedish Lutheran faith and always wanted to be a faithful member of that church.
Seven children were born to Mr and Mrs Johnson, Carl died in infancy, Arthur died two years ago and those remaining to mourn her loss are her sorrowing husband, Mrs Hildur Carlson, Mrs Ethel Miller, Albert and Harold of Canova and Mrs Alice Hood of Ada Oklahoma. One sister, Mrs Erik Lindell of Montrose SD, three sisters in Sweden, eleven grandchildren and several other relatives both in Sweden and America also survive. One brother Ed Olson of Unityville SD died just the day before she died, last Saturday.
During their stay in and around Canova the family has made many friends who join now in extending sympathy to the bereft relatives.
Funeral services are being held this Wed PM with short services at the home and in the Congregational Church. Burial will take place in Canova Cemetery. Rev SJ Vernon officiating.
