Myrtle Irene Ching, daughter of Wilbur and Blanche (Straight) Mitchell, was born March 20, 1915, on a farm near Bemis, South Dakota. She attended grade school and high school in Watertown. After he graduation, Mytle attended college in Madison, Spearfish and Brookings.
On March 10, 1939, she was united in marriage with Hugh Ching at Watertown. Myrtle taught grade school in Hamlin and Codington Counties and later Watertown. She also taught at the Lake Area Vo-Tech. After retiring from teaching, she worked at the Watertown Library until retiring in the early 1970's.
Mr. and Mrs Ching then moved to Edmond, Oklahoma. Twelve years later, they returned to South Dakota, making their home in Castlewood.
Myrtle I Ching passed away Tuesday, February 21, 1995, at her home at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 1 day.
Surviving her are her husband, Hugh "Peanuts" Ching; a son Dale and his wife Susan of Stonington, Connecticut; a daughter Shirley and her husband Ed Sandvig of Hudson; and four grandchildren: Mitch, Zachery, Chelsea, and Chad and his wife De'Ann.
Preceding Mrs Ching in death were her parents, one sister, two brothers, and one grandson.
