Obituary-Thursday morning, July 30, 1942 at 10.00 o'clock at St Agatha Catholic church occurred the funeral of Martin Miller, well known young citizen of Howard, where he had resided since boyhood. Martin Miller was born in St Mary's Iowa, September 29, 1899 and died July 27, 1942 in the Mitchell Hospital at the age of 42 years, 9 months and 27 days. He lived in St Mary's until 1910 when he and his parents moved to Howard on a farm south of town where he lived until 4 years ago when he left the farm and operated the Miller Restaurant here and more recently had been employed at the Oasis Bar. He married February 10, 1931 at Emmetsburg, IA to Agnes Lewis who survives with two children, Marjory and Ronald. He also leaves seven brothers and one sister; John of Polo, Joe, of Granville, Otto, of Roswell, Henry of Sioux Falls, Frank, George, Herman and Thresia, all of Howard. All were present with their families for the funeral. He was the son of the late deceased Mr & Mrs V.C. Miller. The funeral services were held July 30th in St Agatha Catholic church, the burial was made at St Joseph cemetery here. The pallbearers were James Esser, Clarence Esser, Roger Maroney, Joe Lauer, Mark Rafferty and Frank Dold.
