Obituary
Obituary-Andrew Miller, former resident of this community passed away at his home in West Bend on Sunday, October 1, after an illness of a couple of months. The funeral services were held at St Peter & Paul Catholic church Tuesday forenoon, Rev P.M. Dobberstein had charge of the services. The pallbearers were N.J. Tomey, Nick Schmalen, Matt Schmalen, George Helmke, Frank Sweeney and J.B. Murts. Interment was made at the West Bend cemetery.
The deceased was born in Kylertown, Clearfield county, PA on December 2, 1855 and thus was 83 years and 10 months old at the time of his death. At the age of 4 years he came, with his parents, to Warren county, IA and at the age of 21 he came came to Granville, residing on a farm near here for ten years then moving to West Bend where he has since lived. He was united in marriage to Susan Jondle in West Bend on July 25, 1893. Three children were born of this union, Mrs John Wagner of Mallard, Martin A Miller of Hardy and Dr A.J. Miller of Granville. They made their home on their farm east of town until 1918 when they retired and moved to West Bend. Mr. Miller was a devout member of St Peter and Paul Catholic church. He was frugal, handworking man and a good neighbor, father and husband. After moving to town he was not content to being idle but took interest in his holdings and to keep busy he and his garden and chickens and repair work on the farm to look after. He was one of the pioneers of this section. He leaves his wife, three children, one grandchild, Gwendolyn Miller of Granville and numerous neices and nephews to mourn his death.
