Obituary
Dr Andrew J Miller, 83, of Granville, died Friday, June 10, 1983, at an Orange City hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Monday at the St Joseph Catholic church at Granville. The Rev Francis J Nemmers will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen. Parish. Rosaries will be recited at 5 pm and 7:30 pm today at the St Joseph Catholic church. Dr Miller was born October 23, 1899 at West Bend, IA. He graduated from high school there. He attended Kansas State University and received his degree in veterinary medicine in 1924. He married Florence Graff October 4, 1926 at Granville. He began his veterinary practice in Granville following his graduation from Kansas State University. He retired in 1954. He reentered active practice with the US Department of Agriculture in 1960 and served with the USDA until 1970. Dr Miller served a number of terms as mayor of Granville. He also was a member of the St Joseph Catholic church, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the fraternal order of Eagles at Sheldon and the Kansas State University Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife, one son Tom of Crookston, MN, one daughter, Mrs Marcel (Gwen) Schuver of Granville; one brother, Martin of Livermore, IA; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
