Obituary
A funeral for J. Francis (Franny) Weil 66, of Waukee will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 1992, at St. Boniface Catholic Church at Waukee, with burial following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at Dallas Center. Mr. Weil died on Aug. 18 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center at Des Moines of injuries sustained in a fall at the Dallas County Care Facility on Aug. 15.
The son of John Nicholas and Carolyn Elizabeth Grace Weil, he was born at Des Moines and had lived at Waukee all of his life. He married Hannah Corbett on Sept. 13, 1947. He was a farmer and had served as a Dallas County supervisor from 1969 to 1989. He was serving as interim director of the West Central Mental Health Center at the time of his death, and was a member of the center’s board of directors.
Mr. Weil was also a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Izaak Walton League, the Dallas County Care Facility Review Board, the Dallas County Home Health Care Board and several other boards in Dallas County. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Madelyn Overman.
Survivors include his wife, Hannah of Waukee; two daughters, Shirley Weil of Cedar Rapids and Vicki Irvin of Waukee; two brothers, Joe Weil of Des Moines and Leo Weil of Adel; a sister, Dorothy Allen of Waterloo; and three grandsons.
A prayer vigil and rosary service will be held at 7p.m. tonight (Thursday) at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to his church, the Dallas County Care Facility or Mercy Hospital Medical Center.
