Illa Gardiner, 80, of Waukee died of a heart ailment Friday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Home in Adel. Burial will be in the Waukee Cemetery.
The daughter of Orie and Ada Dachenbach, she was born June 30, 1908 at Williamson. She married Daniel Gardiner Jr. on January 4, 1929 at Williamson. She lived in Waukee for 45 years, where she was a member of the Waukee Christian Church and Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was retired from K-Mart in Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Ruth Davis. Survivors include a son, Dan Gardiner of Waukee; two daughters, Flora Slycord and Phyllis Weil, both of Adel; two brothers, Warren and Lowell Dachenbach, both of Chariton; a sister, Lola Mantich of Omaha, Neb.; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
