Daniel Gardiner, Jr. was born in Larkhall, Scotland February 9, 1905 and died at the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines April 8, 1982 at the age of 77 years.
He came to the United States in August, 1923. In 1924 he came to Williamson and worked in the coal mines. In 1943 he moved to Waukee where he worked at the Farmer’s Co-op until his retirement in 1973.
He married Illa Dachenbach in 1929. Three children were born to this union, two daughters, Flora Slycord and Phyllis Weil and a son, Daniel Gardiner, III.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, a grandson and his parents. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; to brothers, John Gardiner of Michigan and Bob Gardiner of Des Moines and a sister, Flora Steffen of Cumberland.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Alan Anthony, Daniel Gardiner, Dennis Gardiner, Steven Gardiner, Douglas Slycord and Michael Weil. He was laid to rest in the Waukee Cemetery.
