Funeral services for Clyde A Brooks, 80, were today (Jan 6) in the First Congregational Church. Mr Brooks died Jan 3 in a daughter’s home at Fort Collins, CO. Burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery with military rites conducted by Codington County American Legion Post 17. The Shaw-Messer Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Mr Brooks was born Jan 31, 1908 at Sturgis, Saskatchewan, jCanada to Fred and Juniata (Carey) Brooks. He married Helen Ching June 22, 1934 at Castlewood, SD. He was one of the original members of the 34th Signal Co, SD National Guard and served two years in teh US Army during World War II. Mr Brooks worked for the US Postal Service in Watertown for 35 years.
Mr Brooks was a member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion, both of Watertown.
He is survived by his wife of Watertown, three daughters, Mrs Jay (Ruthanne) Parker and Mrs Willard (Barbara) Anderson, both of Fort Collins, and Mrs Bruce (Janice) Jones of Upland, CA; three sisters, Mrs Stan (Bernice) Miller of Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada, Mrs Orville (Allice) Klassen and Mrs Doug (Genevieve) Bennett, both of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; two brothers, Arthur Brooks of Lake Elliott, Ontario, Canada and Wesley Brooks fo Toronto, Ontario Canada; eight grandchildren; and a great-grand child.
