OBITUARY-Funeral services for SC (Steve) Johnson, 66, of Mitchell will be at 10 am Thursday at St Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes with Rev Ed Schott officiating.
Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Lake Andes. A rosary will be at 8 Wednesday evening at the church. Visitation will be at the Stedronsky Funeral Home in Lake Andes Wednesday afternoon and at the church Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
Johnson, a son of Mr and Mrs Victor Johnson, was born Aug 29, 1911, at Lake Andes. He died June 12 at a Mitchell hospital.
In 1933 he married Evelyn Novotny at Armour. They farmed until 1950 when Johnson became a postal employee. He operated a cafe and then a gas station, both in Lake Andes.
From 1956 to 1976 he was the treasurer of Charles Mix County. He retired in 1976 and they moved to Mitchell in December 1977.
He was a member of St Mark's Church, the Elks Lodge and a former state central committeeman of the Democratic party.
Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs Robert (Bernice)Brooks, Mitchell; Mrs Willis (Shirley) Eck, Seattle, WA; and Mrs Hubert (Charlotte) Hall, Sacramento, CA; 11 grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs Helen Partridge, Santa Barbara, CA; ;and Mrs Elda Laird, Denver, CO.
Johnson was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
