Eric Anderson was born in Halland Sweden on Nov. 19, 1847. He came to
America in 1874 with friends and settled in Houston Minnesota. There he
resided until 1898 when he moved with his family to Manchester, SD,
settling north of that place.

For the last 20 years his home has been on a farm about eleven miles
northwest of DeSmet, with the exception of the last two years when he
has spent most of his time at the home of his son A W Anderson who lives
near DeSmet.

It was at this place he died Monday December 3 at 1:30 a.m., having
reached the age of 76 years, 14 days.

He leaves to mourn his loss seven children, Mrs. Roy W Tice of Oshkosh,
Wisconsin, Mrs. Joseph M. Smith of Minneapolis, Clara of Brookings,
Axel, Arthur, Clarence, and Mrs. Ida Derscheid of DeSmet. Also ten
grandchildren and many friends.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the Lutheran church in
DeSmet and he was laid to rest in DeSmet cemetery beside his wife who
preceded him in death four years ago.

His ideals and purpose were high and through his teaching and example he
lifted us to high places of thinking and living and his life and
influence remain a sacred benediction and memory.
