Obituary
Jim Derscheid, 21, Troy township farmer, was instantly killed early Sunday morning when his car failed to make the turn on Highway 60, three miles south of Eagle Grove and rolled over several times into the ditch. The accident happened on the curve a mile east of the Troy bridge. The accident happened about 2 a.m. The driver, wearing a safety belt, was not thrown from the car. He was going south and apparently lost control of the car as he went into the turn. The car was completely demolished. Funeral services were held at the Eagle Grove Methodist church Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Roy Cox, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery at Eagle Grove. His death was the 15th highway fatality in Wright county in 1956. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Derscheid; eight sisters and three brothers.
