Myrtle “Bonnie” Gustafson Derscheid was born january 21, 1919, while her parents, Harry and Edna Gustafson lived in Sully County near Onida, South Dakota. She died on Sunday, October 27, 2002 at the Brookings Hosital at teh age of 83 years.
she graduated from Pierre High School in 1937 and in 1940 she moved to Brookings, SD. She was united in marriage to Lyle A Derscheid on September 8, 1940 in Huron SD. They lived in Brookings most of their lives and after retirement wintered in Phoenix, AZ. Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother and volunteer. She enjoyed traveling, sewing and reading.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Rykhus (Bill) of Lapeer, MI; two sons, Gary Derscheid (G) of Paradise Valley, AZ and Craig Derscheid (Linda) of DeKalb, IL; four grandchildren, Erin Rykhus of Belleville, MI, Richard Rykhus of Chicago, IL, Erika Rittenhouse (Matt) of Chandler, AZ and Grier Derscheid (fiancee Amy) of Chandler, AZ; three great grandchildren, Dakota, Daulton and Dawson Ritenhouse of Chandler, AZ; a sister Nina Bohning of Twin Falls, ID; and a brother, Harry Gustafson, Jr. of Gooding, ID.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle on November 25, 1999 and her parents.
