Misc. Notes
Direct decendant of General Ethan Allen, who with his Green Mountain boys captured Ft Ticonderoga during the Revolutionary War.
Mrs Phoebe Hendrickson, who lives in Huron with her daughter, Mrs Amy L Grant, 222 Wisconsin Avenue Southwest is one of the very few women in the Northwest who is a great great grandmother.
But that is not the 94 year old woman's only claim to distinction. She is a lineal descendant of General Ethan Allen, hardy Vermonter who led colonial troops through the Revolutionary war.
It was General Allen whose command captured Fort Ticonderoga. British stronghold whose fall with large quantities of munitions was one of the pivital points in the events of the first two years of the war for independence.
Mrs Hendrickson, who reads and sews--almost too much for her own good her daughter believes--was made happy recently when she was visited by representatives of the third, fourth, and fifth generations of her family.
They were her granddaughter, Mrs Laura Key, Tracy, MN; her great grand-daughter, Mrs Lucille Kolbert, Tracy, MN and her great-great grandson, Donald Edgar Kolbert, Tracy.
While they were together in Huron, a five generation picture was taken. It is shown above.
Mrs Hendricdson, who was born January 21, 1834 in Canada moved to Iowa at the age of 17. She was married a year later to Samuel Hendrickson. They moved to Iroquois in 1883. Since the death of her husband in 1908 she has been living here with her oldest daughter
The other two daughters of Mrs Hendrickson are also living. They are Mrs I Jones, Iroquois, and Mrs Sam Davenport, Adrian, Michigan.
Mrs Grant, representing the second generation in the group that assembled here was born June 13, 1856.
Mrs Key was born near Iroquios July 14, 1883, while Lucille Kolbert was born November 27 1905 at Cedar Rapids. Donald Edgar Kolbert was born October 23, 1926 at Tracy MN.
