Mrs Lester (Erma) LeClaire, 62, died Monday afternoon, Sep 10, 1984 at Sioux Valley Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD.
Erma Audrey Derscheid was born April 19, 1922 near Carpenter to Mr and Mrs William (Mable Jones) Derscheid. She attended grade school at Osceola and graduated from Bancroft High School in 1940. In 1946 she married Lester LeClaire in Pipestone, MN. The lived in Osceola until Nov 1, 1950 when they moved to Maywood, CA and lived there until June 1951 when they returned to Osceola.
Later in 1951 they moved to the LeClaire farm south of Carpenter where they lived until 1975 when they held an auction sale. In December 1979 she moved to Iroquois and spent the rest of her life there.
She was correspondent for DeSmet News and wrote for the Daily Plainsman for several years.
Survivors include two brothers and sister in law, Maynard and Bernice Derscheid, Maywood, CA and Harry and Veryle Derscheid, Bryant; nieces and nephews, Mrs Duane (Shirley) Miller of Winfred, Louis Derscheid of Gautier, MS, Ronald Derscheid of Carson City, NE, Patty Schneider of Kodiak, AK, Bonnie Allen of Los Angeles, CA, and Debbie Bahe of Owatonna, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband April 16, 1981, her parents, a sister, Myrtle Walline in 1967.
