Laura C Lindgren passed away February 21st at Melissa Memorial Hospital in Holyoke, CO at the age of 87. She was born October 1, 1902 near Oleon, NE to George and Mary Bussanmas Miller. The family moved to Cedar Rapids, NE in 1906 where she received her education. She came to Colorado in June 1920 to visit her sister Elizabeth Linnenbrink. Before the summer was over she had a contract to teach in Prairie Star School. In 1922 she and Dewey Carl Lindgren were married. To this union four children were born, Gerald, Dewey, Laura Lu and Barbara. They made their home in the Fairfield community. Dewey Carl was killed in a car accident in 1941. Laura continued to operate the farm with the help of her sons until 1951 when she moved into Holyoke. Laura was very active in community projects including Red Cross, which she was active in until the time of her death. She was selected to appear in the 1967 edition of "Outstanding Civic Leaders of America". She also belonged to the Larkin Club, Beachville Club, Holyoke Homemakers Extension Club, Holyoke Art Guild, Fairfield Friends, Melissa Club, fMelissa Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Sterling Council of Catholic Women, Laura was a member of St Patrick Catholic church in Holyoke. She loved the Mass and was dedicated to the Altar and Rosary Society. She gave countless years to the children of St Patricks.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Carl; 12 brothers and sisters; two sons-in law and one grandson. Laura is survived by her four children: Gerry and his wife, Fae, Dewey and his wife, Lillian, Laura Lu Helgotha nd Barbara Boone; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Mass of the Christian Burial was held February 23rd at St Patrick Catholic church with interment in Holyoke Memorial Park. Thompson Mortuary of Holyoke was in charge of arrangements.
