Elmer Miller, 44, a former Bayard area resident, died Tuesday afternoon in the Veterans hospital in Des Moines. A victim of cancer, he had been hospitalized for the last three weeks. He had surgery in Iowa City in November.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Miller, Elmer was graduated from Bayard high school and at one time he operated a garage in Bayard. Recently he has owned and operated the Golden Spur tavern at Waukee.
A Rosary will honor him at 7:30 p m today at the Caldwell-Brian Funeral Home at 21st and University in Des Moines. Final rites will be held Friday at 10 am At St. Theresa Catholic church at University Avenue and Merle Hay Road in Des Moines.
The Miller family lives at 1900 80th Street Court in Des Moines. Survivors besides his father and mother are his wife, two daughters, a son, five brothers and three sisters.
