Teresa M. Kirchner eldest daughter of Mr. J.M. Gaza passed away Thursday evening at St. Joseph
hospital in Concordia where she had been about a week previously for observation and treatment.
She had been sick for some time prior to going to the hospital but seemed to get better at times and was always
hopeful of getting well without being hospitalized. Even at the hospital her case was found most difficult to
diagnose until near the end when it was decided that it was tumor of the brain for
which nothing could have been done even at the start.
Mrs. Kirchner had spent practically her entire life in Esbon. Her mother passed away in her early
childhood leaving the brother and younger sister to her care. Teresa was well and favorably known:
a woman of broad sympathy: she never lost an opportunity of being of service where a kind word or
assistance would help. She is survived by her husband Francis Kirchner, six children, two
daughters are: Mrs Kathleen Rector, Mankato; and Miss Mary Jo of the home. The sons, Charles in the armed
forces, Richard, James and Danny of the home. Her Father, J.M. Gaza is at death's door.
The funeral was conducted from the Catholic church at nine o'clock Monday morning and was one
of the largest held in Esbon. Burial was in St. Elizbeth's cemetery.
