Lawrence John Schulte was born to Emma (Kubal) and John Schulte on June 9, 1927 on his family’s farm near Geddes, SD. He attended St. Ann’s Catholic School in Geddes. Lawrence was united in marriage to Cleo O’Brien at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on December 29, 1949 in Geddes.

Lawrence spent his life farming with his wife until 1989 when they moved to Geddes and his son moved onto the family farm. They were the proud parents of eleven children. Lawrence was a lifelong member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a former 4-H leader, and served on the Bovee School Board.

Lawrence enjoyed playing cards and tending to his fruit trees. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren. As much as he jokingly grumbled, he loved having his large family gathering to celebrate holidays and his birthdays. Many of us enjoyed his great sense of humor.

Grateful for sharing in Lawrence’s life were: his wife of over 65 years, Cleo Schulte of Geddes; his 11 children: JoAnn (Les) Taylor of Geddes, John (Deb) Schulte of Sioux Falls, Pat (Judy) Schulte of Rapid City, Ken (Vonda) Schulte of Geddes, David (Cindy) Schulte of State Center, IA, Dan (Linda) Schulte of Geddes, Tom (Gail) Schulte of Geddes, Ray (Rhonda) Schulte of Cody, WY, Colleen Schulte of Sioux Falls, Angie (Dean) Meyerink of Geddes and Dale (Jill) Schulte of Cedar Falls, IA; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; twin sisters: Loretta Larson of Geddes and Luella Parthenay of Vancouver, WA; one brother, Frank Schulte of Platte; and several special nieces and nephews.

Lawrence was preceded in death by: his parents, Emma and John Schulte; a brother, Jim Schulte; and two sisters: Mary Ann Winders and Margaret Preuss.
